Online Casino Changes for Czech
The European Union has had a particularly tough time over the past several years
creating an open internet gambling market that adheres to the EU principles of
free trading of goods and services between EU member states. As the EU juggles
this issue though, the individual EU member-states are juggling their own
regulations and attempting to create a harmonious way to protect state gambling
interests while staying in compliance with EU rules regarding foreign online
casino operations. The Czech Republic has encountered a few problems lately that
echo the issues that the UK government is currently assessing – a way to keep
state operating and taxed gambling companies competitive with the foreign
companies accessing the market.
The Czech Republic has a strong online casino gambling market at present and the
2009 fiscal year was really quite strong for the nation in terms of growth and
revenues that the gambling companies were able to generate. But they weren’t
good enough according to Czech companies that are upset that they pay larger
taxes than the foreign companies that are taking business away from the
tax-paying Czech company.
To that end, Czech gambling companies are now beginning to make similar demands
to those that the UK began to assuage just in the past six months about tax
breaks and a new regulation structure that allows Czech online casinos and
gambling companies some sort of tax advantage or break or at least adds a tax to
the foreign companies now causing intense competition in the market. |
