Game Coup for Microgaming
Microgaming is set to really break some records this year as the company signed
a major licensing deal with Warner Brothers Digital Distribution for use of the
Lord of the Rings brand. The multi-year licensing deal is worth millions for
both of the companies as Warner Bros. is likely making a pretty penny on the
deal, and Microgaming will use this licensing deal to secure the company’s
position at the top of the software development industry. There is a big
competition in the market right now for licensing deals and this particular
licensing deals is one of the most significant to take place since the Tomb
Raider brand was licensed out and developed for the online casino gambling
industry.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of the most significant book/movie
trilogies to take place in the last decade and the branding behind the movie
trilogy in particular is absolutely huge. Mircogaming has gained exclusive
access to the Lord of the Rings brand for several years – plenty of time for the
online casino software development company to develop and release several key
games based on each of the three movies in the trilogy. The slots games are all
already in development and the deal has only just finalized, but Microgaming is
quite aware of what a major boost this gaming trilogy will have to its licensing
value by the online casinos.
The trilogy itself brought in more than $3 billion at the global box office and
Microgaming plans to cash in on that value by bringing the trilogy to the slots
in an innovative and high quality slots game that has all of the latest
developments in terms of graphics and sound effects and state-of-the-art
technology newly available to the online casino gambling industry. |
