Bill Coming for Czech
The Czech government may be entering a pretty controversial stage in their
legislation process with the announcement that the Czech government has plans to
reform the online casino gambling legislation in the country to possibly a more
restrictive set of regulations that give favour to Czech gambling companies.
Regulations in this vain would specifically counter the regulatory environment
that the EU is trying to create and there is a lot of negative reaction from
foreign online casinos, gambling companies, and European standards
organizations. At Czech government has been trying to pass more inclusive
regulations for years – ones that would level the playing field a bit and allow
Czech gambling companies to pay less of a tax premium compared to the
competition.
Those proposed Czech regulations have long stalled though and that means that
the online casino gambling industry is developing without a strong framework and
without the specific input and shaping from the Czech government. The Czech
Finance Ministry recently elaborated on the stalled gaming regulatory bill and
notes that until new changes can actually pass through into law, the Czech
operating online casinos have bite the bullet and continue paying high tax
premiums.
The changes that are brewing in the Czech Republic are a direct result of the
clamour that the online casinos and gambling companies are causing. Although the
Czech market has shown a lot of growth and improvement in the past year, the
Czech companies are pushing hard for the government to make immediate and quick
changes. |
