PPA Still Active for Online Casinos
The industry media and news outlets have not really mentioned the Poker Players
Alliance much lately, but it’s important to know that this major group has not
got silent after all of these years lobbying for the legalization of internet
poker. In actuality, the PPA has been working behind the scenes on a campaign to
get more Congressional backers for the current bills to legalize poker and even
the online casinos. In the past several months an awareness has taken over
Congress as the lobbyist really spread the message about the US’ currently
protectionist and freedom-inhibiting gambling regulations. The offshore and
remote online casinos and poker sites are banned from the US market and
conservatives and liberals alike are concerned that the UGIEA and bans restrict
personal freedoms.
Many of the Democrats already support the efforts to pass new and more inclusive
online casino gambling regulations and so the big focus right now is on bringing
more Conservatives into support and alliance with the bills that would legalize
forms of internet gambling in the US. The PPA has recruited Greg Raymer for the
second year in a row now to attend and participate in the Conservative Political
Action Conference that will take place in Washington, D.C. The conference will
have all of the major conservatives spokespeople in attendance – the big names
that make headlines like Ann Coulter and other politicians like Mitt Romney, Tim
Pawlenty, and Glenn Beck.
There is a strong hope that Republicans, a group that traditionally really
supports American free rights, will begin to openly support efforts to legalize
online casino and poker gambling regulations. Only four Republicans currently
support the internet gambling bills – four out of the 34 that have already
pledged their votes and support. By attending the conference the PPA hopes to
add a few more names to the Congressional support roster. |
