Social Responsibility Trend at Online Casinos
Online casinos are increasingly beginning to really take responsibility for
their role within the community and their role as a gambling company operating
in the global market. One of the key pieces of corporate policy that the
watchdog and player advocacy groups have been asking for is social
responsibility for the online casino gambling companies. These companies are
incredibly active in the market and play a large role in the lives of some
citizens – and rather than simply abiding by the minimum standards from the
regulatory authorities there are a handful of gambling groups that are not only
actively giving back and funding voluntary programs related to problem gambling
awareness and other issues that stem from gambling, but these companies are
actually seeking out volunteer opportunities and charities to actively support.
Gala Coral is the most recent of the land and online casino gambling groups to
start making a visible difference in their local community. In May of this year
Gala allowed its employees to vote on a charity of their choice that would
receive the fundraising attention and focus from the corporation and employees
throughout the rest of the year. Not only did the company propose this idea to
support a local charity, but they have actively followed through on fundraising
efforts that have already raised more than $1 million for their charity of
choice.
Gala is not the first to really embrace their role in socially responsible
activities. Slotland has long fundraised and contributed to international
charities in need of support while land and online poker tournaments are
frequently used as an instant fundraising device in the days following a natural
disaster. |
