More Opposition But Some Reason
The emerging regulated Canadian online casino gambling industry has proven that
it’s just a great big headache when the federal government does not get involved
in the regulation process of such a big industry. The Canadian provinces have
decided to look into provincial gambling monopolies as a solution to the fact
that millions of dollars is leaving each province annual and going straight to
the offshore coffers of foreign and untaxed online casinos. But as the
provincial governments announce their plans the biggest opposition for the new
gambling legislation in each province has been members of the Canadian Auto
Workers Union. This Union is concerned about the Union jobs within the land
gambling industry that are in jeopardy with the launch of a fuller Canadian
gambling industry.
The Union’s fairly ridiculous concerns have been spread wide and far by the
industry media because they are truly one of the only large objections. And
although the Union has been quite vocal about the concerns over the past weeks,
the more reasonable and open-minded members of the Union have expressed an
anticipation that online casino gambling regulation within the Canadian
provinces will actually open the door for more internet based jobs.
Additionally, the key argument that has kept most objectors at bay is the fact
that the offshore online casinos already have such a prominent and prevalent
presence in the Canadian gambling industry that regulation should only make the
internet gambling industry safer for all Canadians.
Another key reason for widespread support for the online casino gambling
regulations in Ontario and other provinces is the wide-spread budget deficit
that all of these provinces have experienced. The economies are still not fully
recovered and taxing internet gambling will provide an enormous boost to
provincial governments. |
