Legalization for Online Casinos
The worldwide media has witnessed how political influence largely plays a role
in supporting the legalization of poker at online casinos in America. Certain
members of the Democratic and Republican parties push through with their stance
of legalizing and licensing internet based poker but a particular politician has
arguably been the major focus of numerous articles and stories. Harry Reid, the
US Senate Majority Leader and Nevada politician, is believed to be the
definitive person who can tip the scales in favor of legalized online casino
poker. Various land based gambling operators were formerly worried about Reid.
They claimed that if he supports legalization, and if the decision is finally
passed in the Senate that the land-based gambling operators will significantly
incur losses in the poker and chance gambling markets. Reid, as it turns out, is
showing his support. However, he clarifies that his choice will not jeopardize
Nevada jobs.
Jan Jones, Harrah’s Entertainment’s Senior Vice President also voiced his clear
support. He particularizes on the thought that online casino gambling will
actually provide aid to land-based businesses in Nevada - a valid point that
cannot be over looked! He also stated that Harrah’s Entertainment, a land
centric gambling group, is currently at the process of creating efficient
strategies to monetize the legalization of gambling at online casinos. Jones
explains that there is a need to acknowledge the fact that most of the X-Y
generation markets spend their time in the cyber world. As such, it is important
for the gambling industry to keep up with the trend in order for it to thrive
and maintain its position.
Still, it must be clarified that Reid only supports the legalization of poker.
Other forms of internet gambling - like the online casinos are less not a part
of his current platform. |
