Waffling About Online Casinos
The state of New Hampshire may just get legalized online casino gambling within
the state borders according to the latest information released from the state’s
governor, John Lynch. Governor Lynch has never been a total proponent of a huge
gambling industry in the state, but he has recently gone of the record stating
that he is considering the effects that a legal internet gambling industry would
have on the state of New Hampshire. Governor Lynch has previously refused to
expand the number of slot machines and land gambling occurring the in the state,
but certain forms of online casino gambling are less intrusive than others and
would provide needed revenue into the state coffers – a story that is true for
numerous US states right now.
New Hampshire’s Senate has already approved some expanded land slots gambling in
the state, a move that Governor Lynch hotly opposes. It’s quite interesting
though that Governor Lynch is so anti-land gambling expansions but yet seriously
considering legalization of the more controversial US online casino gambling
industry. Governor Lynch’s more outspoken critics note that there is a bit of
hypocrisy in his plans for the New Hampshire gambling industry. Lynch claims
that he is concerned about the proliferation of land gambling in the state, and
yet will make several forms of gambling much more accessible through legalizing
the online casinos in the state.
His key critics are the more conservative right, who argue that the online
casinos are much more dangerous than land gambling and that internet gambling
interests are much harder to control and regulate than land gambling – an
argument that is actually wholly flawed and not entirely true. It’s not
impossible, legalization of internet gambling just requires different regulatory
structures than land gambling venues. |
