It's Not All Real
Online casino gamblers are just one segment of the internet using population
that need to be on high alert these days in regards to software that they
download from the internet. Symantec is the biggest name in computer software
security and anti-virus protection, and the company has just recently come out
publicly with a notice to consumers that fake security software is one of the
number one types of cyber crime on the internet right now. Gamblers at the
online casinos are often aware that their computers are at high risk for malware
and other types of malicious computer activity – but what they might not realize
is that the easiest way onto your computer is by having you install the software
yourself!
Cyber crimes are increasing all over the world and hackers and cyber criminals
are able to use increasingly sophisticated software and websites to counter your
intuition. The online casinos make huge efforts to protect players but knowledge
is the real power. Symantec suggests that internet users ensure that they have a
very strong and well known antivirus software running on any and all computers
that connect to the internet. Then, let that software work. There should be no
need to download any other type of anti-virus and anti-malware software, and by
doing so you could be introducing the virus onto the computer yourself.
Semantec’s biggest warning was issued for both PC and, surprisingly Mac users.
Don’t download just anything to your computer and allow it to run – this is
precisely the type of online behavior that leads to tracking malware and other
malicious software. As for Mac users, although they are mostly still immune to
computer viruses, the vast amount of information that Mac users store online
make them also susceptible to cyber crime. |
