Advertising Power of Gaming Companies
The upcoming major elections in the United Kingdom have given one of the major
online casino betting companies in the market the perfect fodder to create a fun
and politically motivated advertising campaign that will run through the UK over
the coming three months. Ladbrokes is a key player in the UK betting scene and
is recognized as one of the longest running and safest names in the land and
online casino gambling industry. The site has a stake in the global internet
gambling market, but really, the company’s bread and butter exists right in the
UK market. For that reason, it’s particularly interesting to note that Ladbrokes
decided to enter the political race this season by placing adverts in mainstream
media that pointedly poke fun at the current administration.
The current UK government has really done some harm to the UK gambling industry
by allowing online casinos and betting companies to walk out of the market and
take their licensing business elsewhere because of the high taxes that the Brown
administration has levied on UK licensed sites. The adverts make use of the
photography skills of Alison Jackson and use look-alikes to mimic the current
political climate. The first of the adds – and one that really displays the
humor of these adverts showcases former Prime Minister Tony Blair entering a
Ladbrokes betting shop and placing a bet on David Cameron for the election win.
This is just the first of a series of 45-second advertisements that are planned
to air over the next three months leading up to the election. Ladbrokes, and the
whole of the online casino gambling industry really, are not really pleased with
Gordon Brown’s policies where the gambling industry are concerned and the
company plans to showcase that displeasure in as public a way as possible. |
