Who's to Pay for Horses?
The Australian horseracing industry is suffering a lot right now, much like the
horseracing industries all over the world actually. With the birth of the online
casinos, as well as expansions within sports betting and other activities,
interest in horse racing has really waned in the past decade and the horse
racing industry is having a hard time finding the ability to sustain the
industry without outside funding and assistance. In Australia in particular,
there are concerns that there is simply not enough funding currently in place to
support the industry and now the industry is looking around for answers –
specifically asking questions and wondering which sector of the industry is
going to step forward with ideas for further funding.
In fact, the issue is so pressing that two upcoming conferences have been
scheduled as a way to address the horse race funding. The Asian Racing
Conference is a more longstanding event that covers a wider industry outside of
Australia and may actually consider the land and online casinos as a solution.
This will be the inaugural event for the Australian Racing Conference on the
other hand and since the online casino industry is under heavy attack in
Australia there is little hope that this will be seen as a viable solution to
the horse race funding in the country.
Outside of the online casino gambling industry though, Australia has an
absolutely huge and developed land gambling industry and the Australian Racing
Conference will likely look toward some of these industries to step forward and
lend funding to the horse racing industry. |
