Getting the Name Out There
There is a lot of talk right now about sponsorship within the sports betting
industry – the sporting clubs claim that some sponsorship deals that are in
place compromise the integrity of the sporting teams because it links a team
with a specific online casino sports betting site – and that could lead to match
fixing and other unethical activities. The match-fixing is such a huge concern
that some UK teams are actually not able to engage in sponsorship deals with the
online casino gambling industry. As much as this is the case for some teams,
however, the sponsoring of events is still front and center in the industry and
188Bet announced that the gambling group is the top sponsor for this year’s Isle
of Man Bay Festival, a very prominent annual event in the gambling industry.
This year’s major festival is going to be quite the scene – it’s nearly sold out
already and 188Bet is sponsoring the event as a good will event as much as
anything. Traditionally the online casinos and internet betting sites stay
within their own market for advertising opportunities, but this music and talent
festival is the perfect opportunity for the gambling company to expose its brand
to a much broader audience. The festival has an incredibly long name, the Manx
Telecom Bay Festival ‘X Factor Meets Britain’s Got Talent, and takes place in
mid June 2010.
The sponsorship of the event is through a new foundation that has been formed by
the online casino sports betting company, the 188 Foundation. Others in the
industry are lauding 188Bet for its ability to branch out of the market and but
the company’s brand and name in front of a really prime demographic of
individuals attending the festival. |
