Rules Fully Approved
It seemed as thought the day would never come, but the French government has
actually fully passed through the new regulations for the state that will
legalize online casino gambling within France for foreign gaming sites. These
new French regulations have been in the drafting and re-drafting process for
over a year and there was a hope that they were going to take full effect on the
first of this year. The approval process took a bit longer, however, and the
French authorities have only this month fully signed off on the new online
casino gambling regulations. That was the last internal step for the French
regulations, now the European Commission is reviewing the regs and is expected
to sign off on France’s new policies by the end of the month.
What that means for foreign online casinos is that formal French licensing of
foreign gambling companies could begin as soon as next month. France has been
operating a state monopoly for years now, but in an effort to more closely
conform to the policies of the European Union regarding free trading of goods
and services between EU member-states, France is in the process of creating a
much more liberal online casino gambling market.
As much as there are several gaming companies pleased with this passage of the
French regulations by the National Assembly in France, other companies claim
that the French regulations still give favor to French licensed gaming sites
over the foreign online casinos. The European Commission will fully investigate
all of the complaints though before approving the new French regulations. |
