Cake's Controversial Decision
The Cake Poker Network announced last week that the company was backing out of
the French online casino poker gambling network until the French regulations
fully take effect and until Cake can obtain full legal and licensed rights to
operate in the French market. Up until this point Cake was one of the numerous
foreign online casinos and gaming sites that accepted French players despite
France’s ban on foreign sites entering the market. Now though, with the pending
French regulation of the market, Cake does not want to miss out on the
opportunity for legal and licensed gaming in France.
There has been a big push in the French market lately to have the French online
casino licensing authorities punish gaming sites that chose to operate in the
market before legalization was complete. This is likely one of the main reasons
that Cake has pulled out of the market so close to when the new French online
casino gambling regulations are set to pass. French gamblers though are
disappointed. At this point, there are really few choices other than the French
monopoly for any type of gambling, and there is a fear that the European Union
authorities will not approve the French regulations, and then it could be months
again until legalized internet gambling takes place within France.
Cake has made the site’s cashier continually available to French online casino
poker players, they are simply no longer able to play poker through the site any
longer. Cake anticipates that with the company’s strong reputation in the market
that it will not be long after regulation approval that Cake receives French
licensing. |
