Online Casinos Win Battle
The new Massachusetts bill that legalizes two new land gambling venues in the
state has passed without any action against the online casinos within the bill.
The proposal has made headlines over the past month because it sought to not
only legalize and expand land gambling within the state, but a small clause
within the bill would have made internet gambling within the state a felony
offence that is punishable by jail time and fines. The poker gambling industry
united against this clause, with the backing of the online casino groups as much
as possible, and they succeeded in forcing politicians to remove this
controversial clause from the bill.
The PPA is mostly responsible for forcing the politicians to listen to the
public and respond the requests that the controversial anti-online casino
gambling clause be fully removed from the bill. The email campaign was
incredibly effective and when the bill went to voting and discussion, the clause
was no longer present. The state of Massachusetts will not have far more land
gambling within the state, and the internet gambling industry has not been
touched at all.
The heroes within this tale are the members of the PPA and concerned online
casino gambling enthusiasts who stepped up to the challenge and worked with the
PPA to bombard the state politicians with emails. The directors at the PPA are
incredibly proud that they were able to get so many members active within the
necessary time frame to affect the needed change and keep internet gambling from
criminalization in the state. |
