Blocking the Online Casino Adverts
Eastern Europe is one of the fastest growing markets for online casino gambling
and types of internet betting. There are huge opportunities for growth within
these markets because many Eastern Europeans are just now beginning to switch
onto the Euro and there is a big push to enter these markets right now, just as
wealth is beginning to bloom and gamblers are looking for alternatives to the
more traditional forms of land gambling. The Czech Republic though has been on
the fence about whether to allow a full-fledged market for foreign online
casinos and gambling sites. There is a bit of an intra-country legal internet
gambling industry and the government is considering adopting new legislation
that would ban all of these gaming companies from placing advertisements in any
of the major media outlets.
Advertising for the online casinos is a lucrative business, but one that many
countries have chosen to ban as a safeguard against too many adverts bombarding
the market and leading to problem gambling issues within the country. The ban
would exist on the foreign licensed gaming sites that have never received
permission from the Czech government to operate online casino businesses within
the country. These foreign sites are not paying takes to the government like
Czech licensed sites are forced to do and therefore the government feels no need
to allow these sites access to in-country advertising opportunities.
The new proposal has quite a bit of support within the Czech market from the
licensed sites that are having a hard time paying taxes on their revenues and
still remaining competitive with the foreign licensed online casinos. |
