US Not Worth It
The online casino gambling industry is highly controversial in the US market
right now –there are a lot of rapid changes in the market and the US government
has federal legislation in place designed to ban and block offshore gaming sites
from the US players. The controversial UIGEA has been subject to a lot of debate
and criticism over the past nearly three years because of the simple fact that
the UIGEA is ineffective. The online casinos are still accessing US gamblers,
but now they are doing so in an unregulated market.
In addition to the controversy over the implementation of the UIGEA and the lack
of clear definition of some of the key terms in the law, the UIGEA has caught a
lot of flack because of the enforcement methods the US Department of Justice has
used to keep the foreign online casinos out of the US market. The US DoJ has
collected severe fines from some of the biggest names in the global market
because these companies chose to hammer out the situation with the US DoJ rather
than ignore the government.
Party Gaming is one of the best examples of an online casino gambling site that
has made some strong and questionable choices. The US market is undeniably
lucrative, there is tons of potential for growth and a lot of gaming sites
cannot resist the lure of the gaming. Even the sites that immediately left the
US market once the UIGEA was implemented have faced the undesired legal
attention of the US DoJ and have been forced to pay very significant fines for
their illegal actions within the US market. The situation goes beyond the UIGEA
in some regards and a lot of internet gambling sites have now decided that the
US market is just not worth the hassle and potential problems. |
