Where Has Sega Been?
The name Sega is pretty much instantly familiar to a certain generation – the 20
to 35 year olds who remember Sega Genesis as one of the top alternative video
gaming console on the market just a decade ago. Sega is still in the gaming
market and now it seems as though the company is moving into the online casino
gambling market according to recent announcement from the company’s European
headquarters, Sega Europe Ltd. The company still has a has a North American
branch of the gaming group, but for the online casinos, the real money is
outside of the US and much more focused in the emerging European markets. Sega
has really begun to branch out of gaming console market in the past decade
because there was a lot of competition and the company’s products were not
actually as popular as some of the gaming consoles released by Nintendo,
PlayStation, and Sony.
The company has exited the gaming console market in favour of developing games –
this is where the company has the opportunity to now expand into the online
casino gaming market and reap the benefits of this booming industry. The online
casinos are becoming extremely popular all over the world and new markets are
popping up – this means that there is a lot of room for new companies within the
market. Particularly companies like Sega, that have a long-standing and strong
brand-trust with consumers.
In addition to the video games and the possible online casino games, Sega is
connected to producing hardware for home computers all over the world. With the
company’s sheer breadth of influence there is little doubt that Sega could
easily succeed at entering the international internet gambling industry. |
