Safe Online Casinos and Gambling
The British Columbian government has made headlines in the past several weeks as
the government looks to really expand the online casino gambling industry within
the province despite the fact that the Canadian government has a ambiguous
position on the gambling industry. The Interactive Gaming Council has announced
that it approves of BC’s decision to legalize the online casinos in the province
and the IGC plans to work with the government to ensure that the gaming sites
operating in the region are safe and fair and uphold the highest industry
standards. One of the key issues in an unregulated market is the influx of
either unscrupulous sites or even just online casino sites that operate under
less stringent regulations than the growing international standard.
Really, the UK has set the standard for online casino gambling regulations in
the world and in the process of tightening controls on the UK industry the rest
of the world has watched the UK Gambling Commission work with European and
international companies to form cohesive regulations. The IGC will now help the
BC government develop a strong regulatory regime that is customized to the BC
market while also following suit with the industry standards that have emerged
in the last few years. The IGC has a lot of experience working with the land and
online casino gambling industry and through the IGC’s knowledge there is an
expectation that this non-profit organization will assist the government in
developing a very strong market that is safe and fair for the gamers as well as
the operators.
The IGC has vocalized its support for the BC government’s decision to legalize
online casinos and gaming throughout the province…but that is not the case all
around. The BC government’s actions have drawn criticism from other
organizations and especially the more conservative side of the spectrum. |
