Players Come Out with Money
The dust has settled over the past couple of years on the Ultimate Bet and
Absolute Poker cheating scandals. There was a lot of hullabaloo and controversy
over the cheating scandals when the news first broke and the scale of the
cheating scandals surely rocked the socks off of the international online casino
gambling industry. But time has passed, and many gamblers have moved onward with
their lives and the shock is over. That’s why it comes as a bit of surprise this
week as the Kahnawake Gaming Commission announced that players cheated as a part
of the scandal would be reimbursed for their funds – and that total comes in at
a whopping $22 million in funds that will now go back to the cheated gamblers.
Ultimate Bet was the second company for the online casino poker cheating scandal
and although Absolute Poker resolved the situation extremely quickly, the
Ultimate Bet saga as lasted a bit longer…and behind closed doors for a lot of
it. The Kahnawake Gaming Commission has thoroughly investigated the situation
and finalized all of the repercussions and follow up actions necessary for
Ultimate Bet to retain its online casino poker gambling license through the
Commission.
In addition to restitution for those online casino gamblers who lost money in
the cheating scandal, Ultimate has also been required to update some of the
technology and systems used within the company to control the games and the flow
of money. The new control system is designed to address the hole in the software
that previously allowed this cheating scandal to take place. This disbursement
of funds and the fines placed upon Ultimate Bet are the largest ever recorded in
the online gambling industry – fitting since this was also the largest scandal
to ever take place within the industry. |
