WAAG: India: Time Line
The establishment of a lucrative and targeted online casino gambling industry in
India is likely quite a bit of a ways off right now. The country is receptive to
internet gambling and that is a key component of any strong gambling industry,
but the people of the country are not. The wealthy in the country, those Indians
with cash flowing into their pockets from the West have the money to afford the
wagers and betting on games of chance and the international sporting games, but
some of the Western aimed betting and gambling sites are still out of the league
for many of India’s poorest.
There is a flip side to it all though, and that is the fact that Indians love
their sports; maybe not as they love worshipping their deities, but they do love
the Western sports and cricket and football are a growing passion. With
Australia so close to India there is a strong influence there as Aussie sports
and games make their way onto the Indian televisions. Online casino sports
betting is likely to be the first industry to really find purchase and
prominence in the internet gambling industry. Betting on sports is the logical
next step from passionately watching the game.
Again, there is a huge disparity between India’s wealthy and the poor in the
country who live in remote regions in abject poverty. There is still quite a bit
of time before the online casino gambling industry flourishes and the first
indications will, again, likely come first through an interest in the internet
betting industry. The land gambling industry is alive and strong in India and it
is only a matter of waiting for the technology to arrive in the country before
the industry will take off. |
