Taxes are Just Great for Governments
The international online casino gambling industry is catching a lot of positive
publicity throughout the global recession in very surprising circumstances.
Although a lot of businesses have failed and industries are facing really tough
times, gamblers are still willing to turn to gambling and although spending and
revenues have been slightly down in certain sectors of the industry, internet
gambling has, by and large, remained quite lucrative during the past recession.
The positive press of late comes from a new trend in the industry for countries
and US states to look to the internet gambling industry as a way to generate new
revenue and flesh out budgets within the state.
State and national coffers are running low all over the world and the online
casinos are easily taxable and in most cases the internet gambling industry is
already present and the government plans to just take more advantage of the
ability to tax the industry. Costa Rica has announced that although the country
is already home to a huge and booming online casino gambling industry the
government plans to completely revamp the taxation and regulatory laws in the
country to generate as much as $100 million more money for the government.
US states have also looked into internet gambling (though not the online casinos
because of restrictions at the federal level) as a way to boost the money coming
in to the government. The internet gambling industry is extremely pervasive and
there is a hope that through the introduction of new legislation that legalizes
and legitimacies the industry that the gambling companies will flourish in a
safe manner while also helping the country and state fund other needed programs. |
