Federal Support for US Tribes
The tribes in the United States have a lot of dispensation and needed support
from the Federal government despite the bad rap that the US sometimes gets for
the Indian reservations and the rumors of rampant alcoholism and lack of
education on some reserves. There are good measures coming out of the federal
government and one of them is a bit controversial but has actually arguably
generated more good than bad. Indian reservations in the US have federally
mandated rights that the reservations are allowed to offer any form of gambling
that is legal in the state. Online casinos are legal throughout the US but land
venues are rampant and the many tribes have managed to make huge brands and
viable businesses out of the gambling industry.
The Indian reservations are able to create a whole lot of jobs and revenue by
building land casinos on Indian land. Some of the con argument stems from the
fact that the gambling facilities right on the reservations creates a problem in
and of itself because the Indians are spending their money on gambling and
alcohol. But that is most certainly not the case at all of the reservations. The
Littlewoods brand is huge in the United States and operates a top-notch land
casino that has a positive reputation in the international community.
Additionally, although some state governments would like to several restrict and
limit gambling to perhaps state monopolies or a few small establishments, the
Federal legislation mandates that the reservations have equal rights to any
level of gambling that is taking place within the state. That has really
positively impacted the growth and revenues at the reservations throughout the
US. |
