It's the Fact of the Internet
The internet side of the online casino gambling industry is causing the most
concern for many internet gambling analysts and researchers according to some
results. There is a lot of new information finding its way into the market right
now because of the rapidly changing international regulatory environment there
has been a push in the past three years to really provide some comprehensive and
complete studies on the internet gambling industry. Research is showing that the
internet itself may be the real problem in the equation rather than the casinos
themselves. Namely, the online gambling sites are not particularly addictive
more so than land gambling, but internet use can be addictive and a US
organization has now launched a program that helps internet addicts detoxify.
The implications on the online casino gambling industry itself are fairly
limited actually though – because it is not that the gambling sites are causing
internet addiction, it’s more that the whole equation of email, social
networking, and other factors that are growing with the online arena are causing
concern and are making the US center a technology and internet free retreat
outside of Seattle, Washington in the states. The program is meant to help those
individuals with compulsive internet usage issues. Again, not particularly the
online casinos, this is a general addiction to all that the internet currently
offers.
Now, although the online casinos are not the fault of this internet addiction
that is cropping up all over the world, the research center has noted that
gamblers are at a high risk for internet addiction because that is the only
medium through which they can access the game. Interestingly, the detoxification
program is not aimed at eliminating the internet, but rather bringing usage into
check and rediscovering that there are other aspects to life off-line. |
