Facing Online Casino Charges

Police have arrested a slew of unsuspecting online casino gamblers living in Utah and going about there business – but they were doing it at a cyber café and that’s where the problem starts. Gambling in the US is a pretty precarious industry right now because of the federal legislation that bans financial transactions between the online casinos and the US financial institutions. One of the key points to the US legislation on a federal level is the fact that gamblers themselves are not culpable for the internet gambling activity. In Utah though, the local authorities in Murray have arrested the actual gamblers when they raided a location in the city for allowing patrons to use computers in the café to gamble.

Online casino gambling is one of the biggest wars that the US is fighting right now and it is happening on every level of the system. There are federal issues, state issues and small city and town level issues with the industry. The solution though may not lie in arresting US citizens for their decision to gamble at the online casinos, we are the home of the free, after all. Murray, Utah is a pretty small and unassuming town in the state and now there is a small uproar about the police department’s decision to actually arrest the patrons at the establishments.

From the police side, the state is really looking to stop cafes from illegally offering online casino gambling to their patrons and since that may not always work, the police department also wants the gamblers themselves to know that there are penalties for frequenting these establishments. Regardless of the sense in the move, the police did manage to catch the attention of the would-be internet gamblers in the area with the move so it may have been pretty effective.
