When to Expect Change
The European online casino gambling industry is in a sea of change right now as
numerous European countries begin to change their regulations and create a more
open, fair, and level playing field in the industry. The changes are gradual but
are occurring slowly but surely. Now, that is not to say that the industry is
anywhere near perfect, because there are definitely still nations that are
unfairly blocking the online casinos and supporting state monopolies. But with
those nations put aside, other countries like Italy, Spain, and France are
actively working right now to build a more open and level playing field in their
countries. These three nations have really begun to open up their online casino
gambling regulations in favor of more taxed gambling revenue and compliance with
EU standards.
The changes are taking some time though and it will certainly not be a perfect
fix just because the regulations are introduced. The new regulations in France
are still in the final drafting stages of development and although the online
casinos are excited for the chance to enter the lucrative and previously closed
French market, the sites are working with the government to develop positive and
workable regulations. There was a fear for some time that the internet poker
sites would face unduly harsh taxes in the French market.
The French government though has really taken a collaborative approach to the
online casino gambling industry and is working with the internet gambling sites
in addition to the regulatory bodies, the European Commission, and standards
organizations such as eCOGRA and other companies. |
