Calling for Education
Online casinos are just about one of the most controversial international issues
these days outside of the war and the economy. Besides those two polarized and
controversial issues, the internet gambling industry generates a lot of interest
and a whole lot of debate. Add in the topic of the US internet gambling industry
and there is even more of a situation at hand. Right now the US blocks and bans
offshore online casinos from the market. Now though, an increasing number of
respected US organizations are supporting the online casino gambling industry
because regulation of the internet is far safer than banning and blocking. The
Nevada Council on Problem Gambling is the latest organizational body to come
right out and voice support for new methods of monitoring and controlling the
internet gambling industry.
The NCPG basically supports education and treatment of problem gambling symptoms
in contrast to the current blocks and bans that are just quite ineffective in
the online casino gambling market. The Nevada Council on Problem Gambling has
also grown frustrated with the inefficient US legislation that has banned the
offshore online casinos and notes that since this legislation has now proven
itself ineffective it is time to change the course – opt for something new, a
new approach. The federal ban has not stopped the US gamblers from finding the
online gambling sites and that means that a new approach is not only necessary,
but imperative.
The executive director at the NCPG, Carol O’Hare, very succinctly noted, "We
tried prohibition in this country once. It didn’t work.” That is a very, very
good point that a lot of other companies are not quick to pick up on. If the
efforts are not working right then it is time to change and try a new tactic. At
this point that new tactic is the regulating the online casino gambling
industry. |
