Back in US Market
Neteller’s parent company, now named Neovia has a pretty sticky past with the
United States government so it is actually pretty surprising that the company is
looking to re-enter the US market. Neteller made international headlines and the
history books because of the settlement with the US Department of Justice that
caused a huge wave of concern to ripple throughout the online casino gambling
industry. Neteller’s funds were frozen as a part of the DoJ debacle that lasted
for many months and the conclusion was settled that Neteller would not only pay
enough to return funds to the US players affected by the DoJ seizure, but the
company was fined because of lack of respect for the controversial UIGEA’s ban
on financial transactions between US gamblers and offshore online casinos.
With all of that history though there is some speculation that Neovia may
actually move back into the US market though certainly not within the realm of
the online casino gambling industry. Neovia now specialized in a range of other
payment processing solutions in the European market that are designed to
facilitate internet online purchases between small businesses and consumers in
the area of ecommerce. The internet is a rapidly growing medium and that is not
likely to slow down anytime in the near future.
For that reason, there is definitely room for Neovia to enter the US market now
that it has successfully completed all of the terms of the US settlement. Neovia
is in the clear and you can be sure that the company has absolutely no plans to
illegally enter the US market by processing online casino gambling transactions.
Although Neovia and Neteller are active in this field in the European market the
company would block these services from US gamblers until new federal
legislation passes.
