AmEx Says No to Online Casinos
Gambling at the online casinos and offshore gambling sites is pretty tricky in
the United States and there are fewer and fewer payment processing companies
that are now willing to risk an altercation with the US Department of Justice
just to take a piece of the lucrative internet gambling industry. American
Express is a large international credit card company that does a lot of business
outside of the United States in addition to being one of the top three US credit
card companies. AmEx has released a statement to formerly reject any rumors that
were circling the online casino gambling industry that the credit card company
has plans enter the internet gambling payment processing side of the equation.
To that end, AmEx is specifically not making payments to online casinos or any
form of internet gambling company. The US has very strict legislation in place
that prohibits and blocks financial transactions between offshore sites and US
gamblers. Although there are some companies that are either ignoring the threat
of the US DoJ or instead only offering services within the European market, AmEx
is firmly staying out of the situation by not processing any transactions in any
country that involve online casino gambling in any form.
AmEx’s policy about online casino gambling is clearly stated in the company’s
policies and the current press statements are adamant to note that it has not
faltered on this policy one bit. Rumors that any internet gambling sites are
accepting AmEx cards for payments are false as those types of transactions are a
violation of AmEx policy. |
