More Work Needed on Danish Laws
Demark is in the process of implementing new online casino gambling legislation
that will bring the country into compliance with European Union trade policies
and the European Commission’s Treaty. The Commission is extremely active in the
European market right now with the monitoring of internet gambling compliance by
EU member states. Denmark has long been one of the most stubborn of the nation’s
and negotiations efforts have not worked over the past several years. This year
though, the Danish legislators released draft regulations that will introduce a
more liberal and open gambling industry that more easily welcomes foreign online
casinos into the Danish gambling market.
The European Gambling and Betting Association has opposed the first draft of
regulations and the Commission has a hold on any implementation efforts for
three months. Although the Danish legislators are attempting to introduce more
effective and compliant online casino gambling legislation, there are quite a
few issues that must first be addressed. The EGBA is a highly respected gambling
authority in the European market and the organization has sent a detailed
proposal of objections to the Danish legislators about these proposed
regulations. The Commission certainly welcomes the feedback as well. At this
point in European legislation, help is welcome in ensuring that countries
implement fair legislation that fairly regulates online casinos from other EU
member-states. The Commission is committed to ensuring that the draft
legislation does not become law until the main points have been addressed and
fixed.
The fact that the Danish online casino gambling regulations need so many
revisions and changes means that there will certainly be a delay in the
implementation of any new Danish law. The Commission and other major gambling
bodies are currently detailing the issues when the Danish laws, at that point
the legislation will go back to the Danish government for revisions and then
again to the Commission for further consideration. |
