WAAG: Romania: Overview
Romania is one of those countries that just doesn’t come up in the international
news very often – it’s not one of the G8 and the country does not have a lot of
political strife right now. But just because the country is not a media frenzy
doesn’t mean that there aren’t some incredibly viable markets, particularly for
the online casino gambling industry. The internet gambling market in Romania is
actually alive and flourishing within the country. Some of the big players
actually have yet to really enter the Romanian market because it’s small. As far
as breadth of the market goes, Romania boasts a strong betting culture that has
transferred itself seamlessly to the online gambling industry now that broadband
and high speed internet is internet is more readily available.
The high speed internet issue was a key problem for growth in the Romanian
online casino gambling industry for a while. Over the past several years though
Eastern Europe, the Baltic States and that general region of the world has
really exponentially increased broadband internet access. Online casinos work
best in nations with a highly penetrated internet market and that is just where
Romania is headed. At this point, as stated, the big push is toward a strong
internet betting market.
New deals are cropping up regularly in the Romanian market and there is
definitely a growing interest in expansion within this online casino gambling
and betting market. Analysts predict that the Romanian market, though small,
will continue to grow steadily in the coming months and years until there is a
strong level of market saturation from the internet gambling companies that
chose to enter the market early. |
