A Good Offensive
The Olympic Committee has announced a new partnership with the online casino
gambling and betting industry. The Olympic Committee has purposefully sought out
a relationship with the key international gaming and sports betting operators in
an effort to make a preemptive strike against corruption within the Olympic
Games. Integrity in sports is a growing concern all over the world right now
because of the close relationships that the sports betting operations are now
forming with the gambling teams themselves. Couple that with the growing
prevalence of fraud on the internet in all areas of e-commerce and the Olympic
Committee plans to remain on the defensive to minimize the potential threat of
corruption within the games.
The Olympic Committee announced the formation of the International Sports
Monitoring team. This team has been developed right now in a direct effort to
combat fraud at the 2010 Winter Olympics that are taking place in Vancouver and
then will stay in place for all of the foreseeable future and will work with the
online casinos and sports betting companies all throughout the Winter and Summer
Olympics to ensure that match results remain honest. The ISM team is
headquartered out of Switzerland and is already in the process of developing
relationships and growing policies that will work for monitoring the Winter
Games.
The timing of this new endeavor really couldn’t have been better. By starting
the team now ISM will have time to build relationships with the online casinos
and betting companies long before the fervor of the Summer 2012 Games. In the
last several years there has really been a push to more closely monitor the role
that betting and gambling plays in the sports and ISM is now in place to really
cut back on any chances for corruption within high-level sports games. |
