Social Networking at the Online Casinos
The internet gambling industry is ready to launch a new initiative and this may
just push the online casinos into a whole new category of internet immersion and
social interaction. Bwin is one of the first internet gambling companies to
announce a full intention of entering the realm of the social networking giants
like Facebook and Myspace. Social Netoworking is one most revolutionary new
technologies and forms of communication to come out of the Internet era for a
long time, and the trend toward social networking is huge…and it’s not going
anywhere any time soon. It only makes sense that some of the online casinos
would be interested in cashing in on the social networking era.
Bwin has now announced that the company’s Chief Technology Officer, Thomas
Keissling, is working on new technologies to link social media with the online
casinos. Chat features and in-game networking features are already present at
many of the online casino sites and nearly all internet bingo gaming sites.
Gambling companies have already seen the value in creating an interactive
community aspect to the gaming sites, and Bwin is now looking for ways to take
social interaction to whole new levels for internet punters gambling at Bwin.
One new consideration is the implementation of an alert system so that gamblers
and punters will know when their buddies logged into the online casino. Bwin has
already developed a new poker gaming platform that fully integrates the social
networking aspects of such popular sites as Facebook and MySpace with the game.
The new technology platform cost $45 million, nearly the whole of Bwin’s
technology budget for the year, but that the company is very excited for the
poker product’s launch and anticipates highly positive user feedback because the
entire platform was designed with the end-user in mind and all new features are
specifically implemented to enhance social networking at Bwin’s poker site. |
