Linked to the Mob
Joseph Fafone has made headlines throughout the online casino gambling industry
this week with the claims that Fafone, and his entire internet betting business
in fact, are linked to the “mob.” BetOnLine has operated in the US internet
betting market for some time now, the company previously operated as Best Line
Sports but made the move out of the US as a base and established licensing and
regulations in Panama. Just this month though, Joseph Fafone was arrested while
trying to fly out of Rochester, New York and the charges are unclear at this
point. Fafone has many close ties to the NY bookmaking industry and is
well-regarded by associates in the land and online casino betting industry.
According to Fafone, he moved his business, BetOnLine to Costa Rica, and later
Panama, in an attempt to comply with US regulations that ban online casinos and
internet gambling companies from processing transactions with US players. Fafone
notes that the police were regularly busting in his door when he lived and
operated out of the states. The latest situation links Fafone with the crime
families in New York though even though there seems to be no clear indication
why the link has been spread throughout the online casino gambling industry
media.
It is rumored that Fafone was arrested paying a large sum of money to a client
at a hotel in New York, but that has not been officially confirmed as the reason
for Fafone’s arrest. At this point, Fafone and his close friends who have been
interviewed are refuting the claims that Fafone and his online casino betting
business are linked to the mob. |
