Operating Internet Horse Betting
Several US states have started an alarming and perhaps welcoming trend in the
country that will have an unknown effect on the efforts of foreign online
casinos and US politicians to legalize and regulate the internet gambling
industry in the United States. The US is currently a closed market for internet
gambling that only accepts forms of internet wagering that does not cross
state-lines. In response to the loopholes in the federal legislation, the
controversial UIGEA, several US states have announced plans to expand the state
land and internet betting on horse racing. Illinois is leading the pack right
now and the state could legalize and license internet betting in the state in
just a couple short months.
There are several key companies vying for a license to offer online horse race
betting and the profit and revenue potential is just enormous. The legalization
of internet betting would allow gamblers within the state to place bets from the
comfort of their own homes. The measure was initially introduced as a way to
generate more tax revenue for the state budget but will have the added side
benefit of also renewing interest in the horse racing industry and hopefully
push more gamblers and money that was as well.
This is just a baby step in the many types of new online caisno gambling and
betting legislation that is desperately needed in the US market. It likely wont
make a huge impact on the federal level political machinations to neutralize the
UIGEA, but it is a positive step forward that several US states are open to the
possibility to of internet gambling within the state. |
