False Hope Wins
The analysts and online casino industry detractors are quick to point a finger
at the internet gambling companies for perpetuating an industry that is rampant
with gambling addiction false hopes, and other dangers. This is a bit of an
over-generalization about an industry that is essentially as safe and fair as
the land gambling industry and recent evidence suggests that the online casinos
show the same levels of problem gambling. At the same time though, the nature of
the internet may set up some false expectations and hopes within the global
online casino gambling industry because the news of major jackpot wins is so
easy to spread and disseminate.
Basically, there are online casinos and information portals that are quick to
highlight every single day the hundreds of gamblers who are taking home
significant jackpot winnings from the gambling sites – and some even hitting
multi-million dollar progressive jackpots. But what the news isn’t stating is
the fact that the largest percentage of internet gamblers are breaking even or
losing money. There are some winners out there, but there are also a lot of
losers. Gambling is a game and the online casino gambling sites are one way to
participate in that game, but gamblers need to enter with the realization that
games of chance are entirely random and there is no guarantee that they will
ever even break even.
Essentially, the key is for online casino gamblers to understand that although
the industry media is quick to highlight all of the wins taking place, there are
no sure-bets in the gambling industry and the game should be approached as just
that, a game, a hobby, and not a money-making scheme. |
