Online Casinos Facing Attacks
The internet gambling industry is taking lot of attack right now and in this
case it’s not even from the industry media or because the industry has done
anything to deserve the attacks. Instead, large internet based companies that do
large volumes of business on a global scale, including online casinos, have
reported that hackers are upping the anti and increasing the force of these
attacks. In the past all of these companies have been able to negate the effects
of these attacks with Denial of Service software, but now that the hackers are
using bots to crash and overload the systems the online casino sites and other
major companies are reporting increasingly large issues staying functional.
The attacks on the online casino sites likely stems from the sheer amount of
money that the hackers can extort out of the gambling companies in exchange for
a cease on the hacking overload. The internet gambling sites have long been a
target of hackers who are looking for a cut of the sheer revenue in any way
possible. In this case though, it’s a tough call that the online casinos are
going to cave-in and meet any of the demands, even if it would mean that the
hackers would stop the onslaught of strong and concentrated attacks.
It is believed that a lot of the attacks are originating in Russia and that the
hackers are circumventing any possible Denial of Service attacks by using bots
that hijack computers from around the globe and thus diffuse the amount of
traffic coming from any one server. In addition to the online casino sites the
hackers are apparently focusing on government sites and even social networking
services such as Twitter. |
