Other Concerns for Online Casino Bill
The United States is in one hot mess right now as the Obama administration
tackles the host of problems and issues that Bush administration left behind.
The failing economy is just one part of the problem and now health care reform
and the online casinos are all other issues that are taking the focus of the
federal government and members of Congress. Out of the three mentioned it’s very
likely that the online casino gambling industry is going to receive the shaft in
terms of consideration because of the high priority nature of the gambling
industry. Tony Cabot, an expert within the internet gambling industry has
highlighted his very thought-provoking opinion on just why Barney Frank’s
internet gambling legislation is not going to pass through Congress in the near
future.
Cabot outlined that the Democrats are remaining cautious at giving the
Republicans any more fuel with which to rally against the Democrats and their
health care reform. There are additional considerations that relate to the land
gambling interests in the US as well as the current online casinos operating in
the US market. Throughout all of the current debate on the US internet gambling
industry the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid from Nevada has remained silent
on his position on Frank’s legislation. Reid’s position on situations reflects
the interests of the US land gambling industry and there has been no firm
opinion on the online casino industry yet from land based gambling companies.
Until the land gambling industry takes a position in the internet gambling
debate Reid will likely remain on the fence.
Additionally, the current online casino gambling companies operating in the US
market are hesitant to support regulation of the market because these gambling
companies will likely not receive licensing from the federal government because
they chose to continue servicing the US market. The existing gambling companies
are just looking to keep the current status quo. |
