A Bold Move
There is a lot of controversy surrounding the Tasmanian government’s bold move
toward a totally different and out-of-the-box licensing system. Many of the
online casinos operating out of Sydney and other Australian cities could jump
ship if the Tasmanian regulations stick and the other Australian states are
angered by the Tasmania’s attempt to steal all of the viable online casino
gambling market in the country. A chief concern coming from analysts though is
the sustainability of this system. It costs a lot to effectively monitor all of
the licensed gambling sites and the government will not receive annual monies to
contribute to maintaining licensing for the gambling sties. Some fear that this
new licensing structure is not sustainable across the long-term.
Malta is a perfect example of a highly effective licensing jurisdiction that
consistently invests more money and efforts in maintaining a safe and secure
licensing jurisdiction that effectively controls and monitors the online
casinos. Without a steady influx of cash from the internet gambling companies
the system could collapse. In the short term, the initial money boost from all
of the licensing online casino sites would certainly cover all of the admin
costs. But once the internet gambling industry begins to level off a bit there
would be fewer and fewer licensing sites to keep up the maintenance costs.
The global online casino gambling is a complex structure of interwoven companies
that are working together to put together a strong front; there is no room for
get-rich-quick and the long-term players in the industry are keen on always
implementing a long-term strategy. Although many internet gambling companies are
excited by the new Tasmanian legislation, others are holding out for a bit to
see how the implementation of these plans plays out in the international arena. |
