It's Not Appreciated
The French online casino gambling market is not yet open, it’s that simple.
France may be in the final development stages of new regulations that will open
up the market to licensed foreign competition, but that hasn’t happened yet and
the country is not pleased with the handful of companies that are preemptively
entering the French market before the new changes have taken place. Those online
casinos that have prematurely entered the market could have just shot themselves
in the foot because the French officials want it to be known that those
companies who jumped the gun may not receive French gaming licenses when the
time comes. France is one of a handful of European countries that decided to
liberalize the gaming market in an effort to further comply with European Union
policies regarding free trade, as well as liberalize the market so that the
government would have more control.
Unregulated markets or excessively restrictive nations are not benefiting
because the online casinos are going to enter the market regardless of bans and
blocks in place (nowhere is this more apparent than in the United States). For
the past year now the French officials have worked with the European Commission
and sought feedback from the industry about the drafted online casino gambling
regulations. The new regulations will call for all internet gambling companies
advertising and operating for French citizens to first obtain a license, and
then pay taxes to the French government, and follow all of the still fairly
strict gambling regulations in the country.
As for the online casinos, like Zetruf, that prematurely entered the market and
advertised in a daily newspaper in the country just this month, that decision
could impact Zeturf’s ability to obtain a French gambling license next year when
the regulations take effect. |
