Already Raring and Ready
The state of Illinois is not wasting any time in the expansion of the state’s
land and internet betting industry. Online casinos are banned throughout the
United States as a part of Federal legislation but there is a growing movement
within the state governments toward in-state internet betting. Land betting is
already active in nearly every US state in some form or another, sports betting
and horse racing are the most popular in the US. The Illinois government
developed a new regulatory framework designed to expand land and internet
gambling within the state with a large portion of the revenues going to the
state government to flesh out the budget and fund more social and state
programs.
The new online casino betting and gambling industry in Illinois is likely going
to kick off the moment that the new regulations are passed. In fact, many
anticipate that new internet betting efforts will begin the day after the
regulations take effect. The new Illinois laws will allow the licensing of three
gambling companies to legally operate land and internet betting for Illinois
residents particularly. The online betting opportunities are currently limited
to the horse racing industry in particular.
The gray area in the new Illinois regulations comes to the out-of-state online
gambling. To comply with federal legislation the licensed internet casino
betting operators will have to ensure that all servers for the activity are
located within the state of Illinois and that out-of-state bettors are denied
access to any internet betting opportunities. At this point the US Department of
Justice has neither approved of these type of state initiatives nor has it
voiced an objection. |
