Online Casinos Coming Soon
Against all odds and all previous thought, it seems that a liberalization of the
Danish online casino gambling market could be underway right at this moment. The
internet gambling debate is pretty contentious in the European Union right now
as foreign online casinos argue that EU policies regarding the free trade of
goods and services gives these gambling groups right to some of the currently
closed markets. In the past several years, the Danish government has refused to
adjust the currently protective and monopolistic gambling legislation. But as
the issue continues to heat up, and there is more pressure for resolution that
does not result in an referral to the European Court of Justice, Denmark may be
one of the very next markets to liberalize the EU online gambling industry.
The Danish regulators have really held out in legalizing and regulating the
online casino gambling industry for quite some time now – and as Denmark’s
gambling restrictions and monopolies wore down on the control of other gambling
groups that seek access to the Danish market, it looks like patience may have
finally paid off. Denmark will likely be the first of the Scandinavian countries
to begin offering a liberalized and controlled online casino gambling market.
And to an extent, the success of these new policies in Denmark will likely have
a very direct relation to how soon Sweden, Norway and the rest of Scandinavia
also respond with liberal gambling policies welcoming some online casinos into
the market.
Denmark is being used as the scapegoat and testing ground for several countries
that have held strong to their gambling monopolies. If Denmark is able to
control the licensed online casinos and effectively protect citizens from
problem gambling addiction then other countries will follow suite and the
internet gambling sites that have patiently waited legal entry into these
countries will be rewarded for following the previous restrictions. |
