Strong Reaction from Poland
The Polish government just might win the award for overreaction this month with
the announcement that the government is looking for ways to ban online casino
gambling because of a gambling scandal that really rocked the current ruling
party. But interestingly, instead of fully addressing the scandal and ferreting
out those politicians who were a part of the scandal and flaunting their
misdeeds for the Polish citizens, the government is apparently every possible
route to cover up and hush the scandal from any further notice. News flash
Poland: the world is already aware that politicians within the Civic Platform
party (PO) are a part of this large gambling scandal.
The scandal has occurred, the people of Poland know it, the Polish government
knows it, and even the international online casino gambling industry media knows
that the scandal took place. The response however, is baffling, instead of
investigating and providing the people of Poland with assurance that the scandal
is being handled and prevented from ever happening again, the Polish government
is diverting the attention and looking for ways to effectively prohibit online
casino gambling and poker in the country.
The mandate has already been sent, the Polish government is firm on diversion as
a tactic for averting this latest scandal, which means that a list is currently
in development of all online casinos and internet gambling companies that target
the Polish market. The Electronic Communication Office is drafting the list of
banned companies that will then be sent to all ISPs for blocking. This list will
likely grow as more sites find ways to circumvent this cursory and flimsy
attempt to block internet casinos from the Polish market. |
