Censorship to Stop Internet Gambling
The word censorship simply does not have good connotations in the online casino
gambling industry – in fact, it doesn’t sound good in nearly any industry.
Internet censorship is a growing problem developing countries that are trying to
modernize and catch up with the Western world while also keeping a level of
control over the spread of information, ideas, and internet-based industries.
And while this is most notably occurring in China and even the United States,
it’s a problem that is cropping up all over the global radar. An increasing
number of countries are welcoming the advancements that come with high speed
internet while also attempting to block the industries like online casino
gambling from showing up within their country’s internet offerings.
The problem with censorship of the online casino gambling industry though, is
the slippery slope that censorship creates. Governments like China and the US
are very quick to point out all of the reasons that internet censorship is
absolutely vital in this circumstance, but justifying censorship in any form is
just making it increasingly easy for smaller nations all over the world to also
justify unnecessary blocks that prevent the free distribution of ideas and
businesses.
Essentially, censoring the online casinos is just one step in the process, once
countries find just one justification for it, it becomes that much easier to
find one more industry that needs censorship, and then another, until personal
freedoms are greatly impinged upon and it becomes evident that the internet
gambling sites were just a launching point for governments to exercise undue
control over their citizens. |
