It's So True
Last month there was a moment when just about everyone in the online casino
gambling industry was holding their breath – rumors had surfaced that the
Washington State government banned a major internet PR company from producing
press releases for the internet gambling industry. Mostly there was a lot of
incredulity…surely this isn’t true. Within a week, though, PRWeb confirmed that
the company would no longer write press releases for online casinos at the
request of the state government. The state government has a strong vested
interest in the state land gambling industry and, as such, has some of the
harshest regulations in the United States concerning internet casinos and poker
gambling activities.
The Poker Players Alliance and other special interest groups have been
aggressively pursuing new regulations and legislation in Washington State that
would effectively legalize online casino poker and neutralize the currently
draconian laws and enforcement. Internet gambling in Washington State is a
felony offence – this fact has already made the State a spotlight for
international concern. With this latest issue though it seems as if the Gambling
Commission is going to continue to penalize the online casino gambling industry
in any way possible until new laws (hopefully) come into effect.
Now, a month after PRWeb broke all contracts and services with the international
online casinos, it still seems like something out of a prehistoric time – how
can the government so severely restrict one sector of the market when it’s
solely profit and protectionist reasons causing the harsh regulations and
restrictions. |
