Rank Can Survive
The land and online casino gambling industry in the UK is constantly changing –
there are so many new rules and regulations and new companies cropping up that
the UK government is tightening the hold on the companies and changing some of
the tax regulations. There are several reasons for the new taxation regulations
in the UK – the currently recessive global economy is just one of these reasons
and a contributing factor. For the land and online casinos though, this means
that some companies that are already on the threshold between profitability and
losses – it could put them over. The latest news out of the UK indicates that a
Bingo and Casino duty tax of 22 percent is coming into effect and will concern
all of the land and internet gambling sites operating out of the UK.
Rank is one of the online casino gambling groups that the industry has watched
closely over the past year or two. Rank Group has several key strong interests
within the land bingo gambling industry – these companies have slowly been
caving under the previously intense taxation laws and now that the taxes have
increased, there are some who doubt that Rank will survive a lot longer. Rank
Group on the other hand has really stood strong as the new taxation regulations
were released and announced that the company has reworked the figures and firmly
believes that it can ride out this new tax law and maintain profitability.
Although Rank believes that it can still maintain its land and online casino
bingo gambling operations, company costs and expenses will naturally rise. As
this announcement hit the industry share value in Rank dropped 12.2 percent –
this was purely reactionary though and Rank is still confident that it can
realize profits for the 2009 year – they are just lower than was once
anticipated. |
