India's Laws
There is a push right now throughout the online casino gambling industry for new
legislation in the country – India has the largest population in the world and
the economy is growing significantly because of outsourcing and new job
creations in the country. With all of the Western money flooding the pockets of
the rich, the online casinos are really pushing for more open gambling laws in
Mother India. The potential for a full and lucrative sportsbetting industry is
really positive and there are other sectors of the online casino gambling
industry that would surely prove immensely popular if there were changes made to
the Public Gaming Act – a piece of legislation that is very outdated and in
desperate need of an update.
The crux of the dilemma in India right now revolves around the fact that
offshore online casino gambling is very hard to control and the Indian gaming
laws have no real way to enforce restrictions on the industry as they are
currently written. There are dozens of alternative and creative payment methods
a the online casinos and a ban like the US ban would undoubtedly prove just as
ineffective.
So, that asks the question, what is the developing world to do? There is so much
money in the online casino gambling industry that the potential to solve some
major budget and funding issues in the economy are right there if the government
were to have the right taxation in place. If you ask experts in the industry
though, new and revamped online gambling laws are a pretty long way off in India
despite the fact that an updated Public Gaming Act is desperately needed. |
