Interest is Key
There has been a lot of speculation over the past couple of years or so about
the US land and online casino gambling market and its viability during the
recession. Now that the economic recession is in full swing in these parts the
outlook is a bit more optimistic for some sectors of the industry. There is no
denying the fact that gamblers all over the world just have less money to spend
at the online casinos. At the same time though, new gamblers are signing up at
the gaming sites if it piques their interest. The latest reports out of the US
market indicate that land gambling figures have plummeted and online gambling
numbers are also low because of the UIGEA, but sports and horserace wagering is
still generating excitement with punters.
This time of year is traditionally quite busy for the horse and sportsbetting
online casinos – this year though many sites were anticipating much lower
figures and revenue to come in during some of the horseracing industry’s key
events because of the recession. Surprisingly, that was actually not the case.
Punters and wagers logged into the online casino betting sites in large numbers
this year to bet on the Kentucky Derby and other major racing events like the
Preakness and others. Interest played a key role in bringing gamblers to the
land and internet betting venues – gamblers will continue to bet through the
recession as long as there is sufficient interest.
There was certainly a period of time when the online casinos and sportsbookies
were suffering a lot because of the recession. Now, though, the sites have
reported that revenue figures are increasing and more gamblers are coming out to
the sites – a positive trend that is surely a relief to the internet gambling
sites that have been suffering. |
