First Will Come US
The question of whether or not online casino gambling software will be developed
for Macs largely depends on if the US government chooses to license and regulate
the internet gambling industry. The Mac platform just isn’t popular enough in
the international market for the software development companies to justify the
expense of creating and running Mac-friendly software at the online casinos. A
few of the key and major gambling companies have announced that they have
considered developing a Mac-compatible platform, but without a strong profit
outcome it has been put on the back burner and is not a priority.
The fact of the matter is, as fiercely loyal as Mac users may be – they are a
definite minority and that has created some issues outside of the online casino
gambling industry as well. Some niche software that PC users are able to access
and enjoy may never be configured for operation on the Mac OS – this is just one
of those things that Mac users have to come to accept. As far as a date of when
the Mac market will be large enough to warrant its own gambling platform at the
online casinos, that is tied into the US gambling market.
There are three main software development companies that cater to the closed US
market despite the ban on offshore online casinos. According to industry
analysts, one of these three (Vegas Technology, Rival Gaming, and Real Time
Gaming) will likely be the first company to release a Mac-compatible US online casino platform
because this market has the highest concentration of Mac users. Speculation also
notes that it is very likely that the three companies will wait for a sign that
legalized and regulated gambling is near before such an investment.
