Focus versus Diversity
The online casino gambling industry seems divided on the ways that the companies
propose to stay competitive in the market and continue taking a fair share of
the gamblers. Some companies have announced that a diversification strategy is
in the works. The major online casinos and gambling groups offer a bit of every
sector of the market as an extension of their brand. Other companies though have
noted that with the state of the economy, streamlining the business and focusing
on one specific product or service is the key to longevity. So with these two
polar opposite operating strategies, is there one way that is more effective
than another?
Thats a pretty tricky question to answer there is truth and strength in both
strategies. Several companies lately have announced that they are going in one
direction or the other seldom have chosen the moderate route of having just
one or two key products. Sales and thus acquisitions are rampant right now and
there are some definite shifts happening in the industry as a whole. The target
markets for the online casinos have changed just a bit gamblers are still
heading out the internet gambling sites but many are gambling less on their
visits. For this reason, some companies theorize that offering everything under
the sun from internet poker to online casinos to bingo, skill gaming, dice
games, and more is the route to take to ensure profits in the long run.
On the other hand other companies feel like streamlining the offerings,
cutting operating costs and really focusing on a core market is the best way to
attract new gamblers stay at the forefront of one single sector. This theory
looks to build a single brand and product into the offering at the top of its
sector the other focuses a bit more on quantity (though this is not to say
that the large online casinos lack quality).
